A man has been arrested and another is still on the run after a road rage shooting south of Brisbane this morning. Police say a shot was fired at a car at Woodridge before the offenders drove to Algester, where police declared an emergency situation and closed a number of streets. The manhunt then switched to nearby Browns Plains, with officers converging on a local hotel this afternoon. Members of the public were moved into a nearby supermarket and two schools were locked down. Superintendent Michael Niland says a man was arrested, but police are still looking for the other offender. He says the male driver was described as being in his late 20s and of a European background. Local resident Julie Smith says residents in her street were told to stay inside. "We counted nine police cars going very fast along Ridgewood Road past my house and also it looked like an armoured truck or something very similar," she said. "They've probably spotted them with the helicopter so that's why they were racing off, obviously to find them." It is believed the drama started on Smith Street at Southport earlier on Thursday morning. One car involved in the incident has been abandoned and police are searching for the occupants of the vehicle. It is believed that the occupants of both vehicles are not known to each other. Police are urging anyone who may have information or has seen a black Audi sedan in the Woodridge or Algester areas this morning to contact them.
