Five people are dead and two more are in a critical condition after a horrific weekend on Queensland's roads.

The fatal crashes began on Friday when a semi-trailer and car collided violently on the Warrego Highway, near Jondaryan.

The female car-driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a male passenger from the car was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital with serious injuries.
